So, you want to learn more about online marketing ... the steps to help you have success marketing online and you are interesting in getting some tools and tips. Well, you are in the right place.

A couple of truths to get under your belt before you start:

• A great advantage to online marketing as opposed to other mediums is that you get results immediately and can adjust your campaign quickly. Google has some great tools to help with this. There is no agony over a magazine ad you placed that is not getting the results you need but you have to wait a month to make changes .... then see what happens then.
  
  
• Marketing supports your sales and sales is a numbers game. And we all sell ... ourselves, our cause, our services, or our products. The one with the most conversions is the most successful! So, we want to learn to sift and sort quickly to get the best Return on Investment (ROI) ... the most conversions in the most cost effective manner. Remember... sift and sort ... sift out those who are not looking for what you have and sort those who are ... some may be thinkers and researchers and others may recognize what you offer more quickly. That's okay. So, a crucial step is to make sure you are constantly filling your prospecting funnel with leads or prospects to sift and sort ... don't run out.
  

Starting is always the hard part in anything. You may be relieved to know that you can start anywhere ... right where you are in your own marketing campaign. You do not have to scratch everything you've already done. Quite the opposite. That was valuable time and effort and you will want to harvest any knowledge obtained from what you have already done. Everything, and I mean everything, you do online is valuable. There is much data you can obtain from your trials and errors, failures and successes. A key to successful online marketing is to continue building upon what you have already done.

Haven't experimented, yet? Well, that's okay too. Start wherever you are ... but start now.

Now ... on to Step One, but first, we'll assume you have already researched and chosen your cause or product to promote. If you haven't, you can get some great tips and training on choosing what to promote with an online marketing campaign through the system I use, Veretekk. So, you have already chosen your Google keywords for your business or cause of choice, now ....

Step One. Write out your goals.

1. What do you want. What is your main objective. For most, it is to make money. Others may have an online marketing campaign to support a cause. So, think about that for a minute. Both want to get their information before massive amounts of people but their measurement of success will be different. For our purposes, we’ll assume money is the objective.
   
   
2. How much and how soon. Do you want a profit of $500 a month or $5,000 or more. How will that increase each month. What are your long term goals. What amount do you want to increase by each month. With your business, maybe you want to earn $2,000 the first month with a goal to be earning $10,000 by end of the 3rd month. Write it down.
   
   
3. How many sales do you need to meet the monetary goal. For this, you need to know your product or service and your profit margin. This will be different for each business. I am involved with a home business that supplies a great guide for helping us determine our goals (EDNGlobalWealth). Write it down.
   
   
4. How many people do you need to talk to (email, blog, etc.) to get the number of sales you need to make your goal. These are interested prospects who want what you have. Write it down.
   
   
5. How many people do you need to get your information in front of to have enough interested people to talk to for conversion from prospect to buyer. This is what most people miss. Keep the funnel full so you always have people to sift and sort, some taking longer to look than others, and some just aren’t looking for what you have. You have to contact many more people than you’ll eventually talk to who become buyers! And, this is what is so powerful with online marketing. You can reach massive amounts of people with a strong online marketing campaign that you continually monitor and adjust. Write it down.
   
   

• I tend to try several methods and track them so I know what is working best in my campaign. For instance, if I’m using Google PPC and I’m paying, my conversion rate to a targeted audience might not be as cost effective as sending a massive campaign to free classifieds or free leads. The beauty of online marketing is that you can adjust your campaign immediately depending on your results.
  
  
• So, what’s the magic number? In a nutshell, the more the better: “massive amounts” is the number if you are serious about building a business online. One great think about the email system I use, I can re-direct leads to others on my team (http://sabreyjs.veretekk.com).
  
  
• people differ with respect to the numbers I'll use here, but note the variation or relativity of the numbers you go through to get to your goal. If you need to make 3 sales a month for your profit goal and we know that with all things being equal (good product, good ads, etc.) about 1 in 10 converts to a sale, but you have to go through about 200 to get those 10, then 600 is a minimum for those 3 sales. And, to get those 600 you should expose your information to thousands and have people contacting you by phone, email or by visiting your site. People call me daily because they’ve seen my website online, got an email and followed up with some of the links ... and to get to that point, you need to contact thousands every day.
  
  

This may sound very difficult, but it really isn’t; especially if you have the right tools! And online marketing gets your information to the massive with the best ROI.
